This week, my Gay Place hope is that, despite the differences and subsets of Austin's beautiful LGBTQIAxyz residents, we can come together as one fabulous/glittery/sexy/sweaty/dirty/proud community and take care of one another. And we damn well will not regret – or hide – our queerness. But with Orlando and Pulse nightclub still fresh on our minds, Pride's meaning digs in a little deeper this year. It's a day for the community to come out and shine brighter than even RiRi's diamonds.
Many in the q-mmunity joke that, for queers, Pride is the equivalent of Christmas or New Year's. Austin Pride Week has arrived! Come Saturday thousands of queers will descend on Fiesta Gardens and flood Congress and Fourth Street with more rainbows than a Lisa Frank coloring book.
